Deconstruction

I've been stockpiling bits of old books - endpapers and covers, primarily - so finally concentrated on just using them in some collage. (I've been finding random piles of bits of papers, which is how I usually work, a bit overwhelming lately, so have been experimenting with limiting the palette or material in some way helpful.) Here are the results:

Thank you so much, Pamela. I actually framed three of them up, which is new for me! It was nice to work with just a few materials and every piece was so interesting.

I can see why you would frame there -- they are great. I recently saw a book arts show that had pieces made from various parts of books and I loved it. I just might have to try a collage similar to yours soon...

Yes, do! It's a lovely exercise and there are so many interesting "bits" on older books. There is a used book table in our bank (slightly odd, but whatever!) and I am always trolling, although I need to resist or I'll be overrun.

Hi Karen. Yes, I'm pretty pleased with how they look and it's nice to see them altogether (I framed three and mailed one away to Australia!) Back and refreshed from your holiday?
